Trusted profile
When will the trusted profile make our lives easier?
Trusted profile is used to confirm identity on the Internet. In practice, it makes it possible to use many services offered by EPUAP, CEIDG, PUE ZUS platforms and the OBYWATEL.GOV.PL website. Thanks to the profile, a personal visit to an office, in order to submit and sign various types of applications, becomes unnecessary. In this way:
- we will deal with the formalities of applying for an identity card;
- report the birth of a child, apply for a bequest, enrol the child in kindergarten;
- check your pension account balance;
- we will fulfil the obligation to register (both for permanent residence and temporary residence);
- register to vote;
- we will set up a business;
- we will check how many penalty points we have
and many, many more. It is estimated that in the list of activities that can be carried out with the help of the a trusted profile, there are more than 200 points and more are constantly being added to it.
How do I set up my trusted profile?
At trusted profile consists of a specific set of information about a person, i.e. name, surname, date of birth and PESEL. Setting up a trusted profile can be done in two ways. The first is by visiting a special confirmation centre. A much more convenient option is to set up a profile online. This option is available to those who use an online banking account. Before setting up the formalities, it is worth checking whether your bank allows this step. In the vast majority of cases this will not be a problem, as account holders of most banks can set up a profile in this way at any time.
Trusted profile vs. electronic signature?
In the discourse on the easy handling of official paperwork, we will also come across the term 'electronic signature'. What it has in common with with a trusted profile is that in both cases we are dealing with confirmation of one's identity. That is where the similarities end. With the help of a trusted profile only deal with matters on official platforms, whereas an electronic signature allows you to additionally sign e-mails or a variety of documents (e.g. WORD and PDF). The electronic signature therefore has a commercial application. In contrast to a free trusted profile, you have to pay for it, i.e. buy it from an entity that is certified by the Ministry of Digitalisation.
